I had the haddock bite basket the other day, and it was delicious. A really pretty spot to sit and eat.

OK, the captain's catch may not be a top notch restaurant in Castine, ME but the location at the harbour, next to the "T/S State of Maine", the peaceful ambience and the plain family style cooking make it a must to enjoy a shrimp basket or a hamburger with fries there.

The Captain’s Catch is a tiny little takeout right on the Town Dock nested between where the Training Ship State of Maine docks and the historic town of Castine. I think it really adds both character and flavor to the Waterfront area of this quintessential coastal Maine community. I visited this place several times in the summer of 2018 before deciding on a 4 star rating for this eatery. Here’s some reasons why: Location. This is just a great spot. If you come to Castine in the summer, you HAVE to grab a burger, BLT or Lobster Roll and eat it on the Dock. The few interactions I had with the people working there was always positive, very friendly and helpful. The actual Food was a Mixed Bag. The Burger/Fries was delicious. The BLT was basic and passable, but to honest, I took it home added some buffalo chicken to it. Because this is a major ding to me….NO CHICKEN...sandwich, nuggets….nothing :( Now I realize: It’s Captain’s Catch and they probably don’t catch too many chickens. Sin...
